When I tell you, I STRUGGLED to get through this book...let's get into it.
SYNOPSIS
Sethe, its protagonist, was born a slave and escaped to Ohio, but eighteen years later she is still not free. She has too many memories of Sweet Home, the beautiful farm where so many hideous things happened. And Sethe's new home is haunted by the ghost of her baby, who died nameless and whose tombstone is engraved with a single word: Beloved.
MY THOUGHTS
I'm ashamed to say that I just couldn't get into this book. This was my first book by Morrison and the whole time I was thinking: What on earth is going on?
This book went completely over my head, I was lost most of the time and the writing (while beautiful) seemed all over the place. I tried listening to the audio version in addition to reading it, but I was still left confused.
Maybe I'll give it another go when my brain doesn't feel like mush, but for now, I'm saying that this book wasn't for me at this stage in my life.
