The Temple of My Familiar by Alice Walker

Hello my lovely readers!

Did you know that The Color Purple  is a trilogy? This is the second book in the series. Let's get into it!

SYNOPSIS
Filled with the author's unique combination of magic and reality, this book is a sweeping yet intimate novel about people who are tormented by the world's contradictions--black vs. white, man vs. woman, sexual freedom vs. sexual slavery, and past vs. present.
MY THOUGHTS
I feel ashamed to say this, but I did not like this book. It felt like a stream of consciousness by Walker and not like a cohesive novel. There was the tiniest of connections to Shug, Celie and Nettie, but we don't learn that until half way through the book.

There were too many characters, no plot and monologues that went on for pages and pages. I was disappointed in this book because I absolutely adored The Color Purple.

I still plan on reading the third book in this series Possessing the Secret of Joy, but I don't have high hopes for it.
